ABOUT THE BOOKS

The Glass Hotel: A Novel

The City We Became

Every great city has a soul. Some are as ancient as myths, and others are as new and destructive as children. New York City? She’s got six.
But every city also has a dark side. A roiling, ancient evil stirs in the halls of power, threatening to destroy the city and her six newborn avatars unless they can come together and stop it once and for all. – Google Books

If I Had Your Face

If I Had Your Face plunges us into the mesmerizing world of contemporary Seoul – a place where extreme plastic surgery is as routine as getting a haircut, where women compete for spots in secret ‘room salons’ to entertain wealthy businessmen after hours, where K-Pop stars are the object of all-consuming obsession, and ruthless social hierarchies dictate your every move. – Google Books

BOOK REVIEW

The Glass Hotel: A Novel

I find it impossible to say who the main character of this novel is. There is a large cast of people who enter the story to varying degrees, and there are several locations as well as several themes. It is to the author’s credit that we come to care about most of them, even as the chapters move around in time and place. What all the characters have in common is the importance of their relationship to money, both in poverty and super-abundance. – Sleahey’s Review

The City We Became

The staggering contemporary fantasy that launches three-time Hugo Award-winner Jemisin’s new trilogy (following the Broken Earth series) leads readers into the beating heart of New York City for a stunning tale of a world out of balance. This novel works as both a wry adventure and an incisive look at a changing city. Readers will be thrilled. –Agent: Lucienne Diver, the Knight Agency

If I Had Your Face

This is super-duper page turner for me! I almost growled when I I had to stop reading. It is contemporary South Korean culture. Because I am not familiar with the current culture there except for K-pop, I am limiting my thoughts to the culture presented in this but I have a feeling that at least holds true for the general culture. – Carolee888’s review

“She read books as one would breathe air, to fill up and live.”
